confetti from the skies.
Chennai. Sunday April 26 2020
A sudden urge to fetch more rugs and sheets or maybe a blanket crept up.
Also, to my discovery, I had used the living room for the night. Guess I couldn't be bothered after binge reading the entire evening.
It's dark outside and now(6:45 AM) when I decided to write this, it's still dark.
Cold walls. Cold feet. Wind hooting through. Occasional hits of lightning and a heavy, stingy shower of water outdoors.
Thunderstorm. Or at least, my smartphone says so.
35°/24° Cloudy. Thunderstorm.
My nose tip's probably turned icy and I so badly wanted to warm myself up.
It kind of scared me when the first thing I registered was this tall huge purple figure moving on to me, which was actually the curtains that were a metre away from my couch, swaying back and forth.
Quick fact:- I can be lazy. And with mornings like these people can be lazy. That makes a lazy person be lazier. I was just lazy at best today.
While mom checked on the potted plants in her garden, I craved for a steamy hot tall mug of hot chocolate.
All this and my head plays a quote it heard somewhere to me.
The woman is rain
And when she falls,
She is a monsoon.
To love her is to drown.
There sure is something mystical with the splitter splatter of these silver droplets that turns everything around you romantic.
Mutes every human sense and yet seduces.
It's of great attraction to love by in this air.
Might be the piece of music that stayed in your playlist for years.
Might be your favourite story.
Might be your favourite person on the planet.
They say the past is always with us, for it feeds the present. What amazes me is that a phenomenon as natural as rain glimpses human ecstasies, happy and sad, wild and lame in the human mind beautifully.
To sit indoors with the rain out there, just the mere presence in the air around. To not be touched but be touched.
The sweet deafening as the world around you softly blurs.
The way I see it, it's a selfless act. And hence, love.
However dark the clouds be. However heavy they might be. Oh and especially when they're dark and heavy, they shower and shower and shower.
What bravery.
What beauty.
